Differential capacitance measurements of Pd overlayers on a Pt(1 1 1) electrode in dilute aqueous NaF solutions have been performed as a function of film thickness in order to determine the potential of zero free charge (pzfc). The pzfc of the first, pseudomorphic Pd monolayer on Pt(1 1 1) is −0.21 V versus SCE. By increasing the amount of deposited Pd, a clear shift of the pzfc to more positive values is observed. After deposition of an equivalent of 10 monolayers, the value approaches that of a massive Pd(1 1 1) electrode (−0.12 V versus SCE). The pzfc's for the various Pd coverages are correlated with surface structure information, derived from STM images (R. Hoyer, L.A. Kibler, D.M. Kolb, Electrochim. Acta 49 (2003) 63). Variations in the pzfc are discussed in the context of an electronic modification by the underlying substrate and are compared with corresponding data for Pd overlayers on Au(1 1 1). 相似文献

Quantifying Whitewater Recreation Opportunities in Cataract Canyon of the Colorado River,Utah: Aggregating Acceptable Flows and Hydrologic Data to Identify Boatable Days 下载免费PDF全文
The structural norm approach was combined with the Potential for Conflict Index to define recreation streamflow needs for the Colorado River in Utah and Colorado. An online survey was completed by 128 commercial and non‐commercial boaters, who evaluated a range of flows for whitewater boating. For the Cataract Canyon reach, respondents rated the quality of their recreation experience of specific flows, describing the quality of boating opportunities across the full range of historical streamflows. Ranges for both acceptable and optimum flows were defined, as well as thresholds for unacceptable flows. These ranges were then evaluated against historical hydrologic records to quantify the timing, frequency, and duration of days when defined whitewater flows exist across different year types (i.e. average boatable days). Results indicated that on average, a total of 257 boatable days existed in dry years, and 353 total boatable days occurred in dry‐typical years. In wet and wet‐typical years, 362 and 365 total boatable days respectively, occurred on average. Results of the boatable days' analysis indicated that over the 23‐year period of record, whitewater boating opportunities occurred nearly every day of the year in all but the driest year types. Results from this study provide resource managers with information which can be used in the development of annual operating plans for the Colorado River Basin and help managers understand how changes in flow impact the quality of recreational opportunities. Optimization of reduction potential for electroseparation was studied for the recovery of gold, copper, and lead from acidic
solution. A linear sweep voltammetric method enabled us to determine characteristic reduction potentials for each metal and
the kinetics of the metal deposition indicated by current-voltage curves. In order to precipitate the metal species sequentially,
reduction potentials were examined for the individual and mixed solutions of Au(III), Cu(II), and Pb(II). The three metals
were reasonably well isolated from the mixed solutions such as Cu(II)/ Pb(II) and Au(III)/Cu(II)/Pb(II) in the order of the
corresponding reduction potentials, in particular, the mass transfer controlled reduction potentials, obtained from linear
